Silas 3D is a complete data acquisition, processing and interpretation system. Capable of mapping the Depth of Burial of objects such as power cables, pipelines, and other buried objects in the sea, lake or river bottom.
Silas 3D has the capacity to provide live line tracking in the helmsman display, allowing real time visualization of the desired object.
Our state-of-the-art Silas 3D system, is an ultra-high resolution 3 dimensional seismic passive sub-bottom profiler, using an acoustical pinger source. This system operates with a set of transducers linked together with an array of hydrophones that are mounted on a frame. The deployment of the system can be either: Over the side, on a depressor or mounted on an ROV. The frame can be complemented with various other hydrographic equipment, selected according the needs of the survey deliverables. The set of transducers is mounted parallel to the sailing direction, creating an elongated signal array. This setup produces the largest beam angle perpendicular to the sailing direction, resulting in the best condition to detect buried pipelines and power cables as well as other buried object. With this system we can detect pipeline and cable contacts by sailing longitudinal lines over and parallel to the object, thus vastly increasing the return on investment when considering sailing time Vs contact rate.
Silas 3D combines ultra-high resolution and high penetration seismic imaging with real time data in the helmsman display, that allows for detailed and efficient object detection in real time whilst sailing over the object, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the survey line sailed.
