OASYS is our range of bespoke acoustic equipment joint developed. With the focus on automatic object recognition. Offshore cable monitoring was the first scope and the system has been used during the installation of various array and export cables.

The OASYS system is a combination of best in class commercially of the shelf hardware. Augmented by our distinguishing in-house developed sea hardened measurement grade hydraulic pan-tilt rotator, deployment systems and power packs and our powerful acquisition software suite.

The system was developed with the following key aspects in mind:

1. Vessel fixed: work-ability is highly increased when the system is fixed to the vessel and not depending on e.g. ROV deployment. The system is deployed using our Universal Deployment System or any other survey pole.
2. Real-time automatic object detection: in contradiction to other sonar systems which depend on operator ‘point & click interaction’, the system should be able to detect the target object automatically at a real-time detection frequency.

The system is currently capable of fully automatic cable detection and tracking during free-lay and anchored cable lay. It has monitored 88 cable installations in water depths up to 50m and a wide range of environmental conditions. In several occasions the system has provided early warnings to the operational controller that have prevented breach of installation specifications.
